VIDEO SURVEILLANCE CASE STUDY
How three small communities use one FSN designed Video Capture System to Monitor security and activity at multiple schools from pre-kindergarten through the 12 grade.
The Client:
Mt. Healthy City School District, located in Hamilton County in southwestern Ohio, is a culturally diverse school system, with children and students spanning grades K-12. Monitoring the comprehensive educational programs for thousands of youngsters, from pre-school to college preparatory and vocational programs. is a real challenge. School officials asked Full Service Networking to find a solution.
The Situation:
The district includes six elementary schools, a junior high school and a high school. Each school had an old digital video recorder (DVR) that recorded images from the analog cameras in the school. There were a total of 63 cameras throughout the district. The DVRs were difficult to use, many of the tape drives did not work, and the images were not accessible from outside the school.
The Results:
The FSN solution was to install a server-based Video Capture System to integrate the existing analog cameras and an additional 10 new Internet Protocol cameras over an existing fiber network. These all feed into a single centralized security system located in the business office of the high school.
The Future:
Using the new FSN system, all camera mages are now viewable from either the local school or the central security office. Images are stored on a large sick drive in the VCS server. The system is designed to be able to expand to over 200 cameras.
School administrators, teachers and parents have a better sense of security and peace-of-mind through use of the new security system. The VCS system helps identify any problem area or conflict and address it quickly. Students, too, welcome the knowledge that their school is monitored and is a safe and secure place to learn and enjoy new friendships.
