VIDEO SURVEILLANCE CASE STUDY
When you're training police, fire and Homeland Security personnel, you'd better have a fully secure facility. Here's how Full Service Networking helped Great Oaks Institute of Technology and Career Development achieve unmatched security.
The Client:
The Great Oaks is the largest career and technical education district in the United States. It has been providing career development, workforce training and development, and economic development to individuals, business, industry, labor, communities and other organizations in southwest Ohio since 1970.
The Situation:
One of the most important buildings on the Great Oaks campus is the Public Safety and Security building. Because it is used to train police, fire and Homeland Security personnel it requires a very high level of security. Greg Fiebig, Security Manager, stated, “Because of the nature of our training here, and the materials and techniques we use, we need a security system that is top notch, yet easy to monitor 24-hours a day for fire, security and emergency preparedness. We decided to work with Full Service Networking to provide us with a state-of-the-industry security system.”
The Results:
The FSN solution included an integrated Video Capture System and electronic door access control as well as 24 x 7 monitoring for fire, security and 911 services. The system includes IP cameras, 15 door access controls and flat panel monitors in the security office. They are visible from the front lobby and can also be monitored remotely and by security response services.
The Future:
According to John Burns, Manager of Technology Operations, “A security system is only as good as the technology supporting it. FSN worked with us to design a system that is server-based and integrated through our network. It has a variety of power protection and back-up features and is built around highly reliable technology. Door access control lets us isolate or open any part of the building and restricts access to authorized personnel in many parts of the building. When you are training police, fire and security personnel who will be the frontline of most any emergency, you must have systems you can count on. FSN's VCS with door access has given us that reliability.”
