St. Susanna Parish School |
Situation:
The St. Susanna Catholic Church and School campus serves over 2,500 families. Protecting the safety and well being of the children and teachers is of primary importance. But how do you secure and monitor a multi-building campus where families and friends are coming and going throughout the day and evening? St. Susanna wanted a reliable surveillance system that could be combined with access control and secured entrance and exit, with interior and exterior doors that can be locked down instantly. School administration asked Full Service Networking (FSN), already their computer network manager since 1997, to help solve the problem.
Solution:
The FSN solution was to add a Video Capture System to the converged video, voice and data system already in use. FSN conducted a site survey and, working with a partner specializing in physical and electronic security, installed 20 cameras and 20 electronic door activation systems. Monitoring of the video surveillance system can be done on campus or remotely and has been coordinated with local law enforcement.
Result:
By choosing FSN as their integrated solutions partner, St. Susanna now has complete surveillance and door and access control for each of its buildings. From one location authorized staff can admit visitors to any of the buildings. The visitor simply presses a button near the door, is clearly seen on video, is asked for their name, purpose of visit, and who they will be visiting. The door is then activated to admit the visitor. The system is supported by back-up power and gives the teachers, parents and children a level of safety and security without being too restrictive of the on-going activity of a busy community school and social activity center.
