John Tisdel Fine Appliances
Situation:
John Tisdel Fine Appliances represents the best in kitchen appliances. The company is the exclusive wholesale distributor to 150 dealers for Sub-Zero, Wolf, ASKO, Faber, KWC, Sylvan Source, Scotsman, and Independent Hoods. A single source outside IT resource provided excellent day-to-day implementation, but lacked the resources to offer strategic, proactive technology guidance. Tape backup and localized hardware platform offered no redundancy to provide ample protection of essential business data. A pending upgrade of Syspro, the industry line of business software, provided an opportunity to obtain a second opinion before making a fundamental change at a large expenditure.
Solution:
Full Service Networking (FSN) offered a virtual server option to test and deploy the new version of Syspro without interrupting current functions and incurring a $10,000 expense to purchase a new server. FSN also began hosting all data function to provide sufficient back-up using the latest technology advancements. A rapid recovery solution was implemented to guarantee a disaster recovery capability in case of an accident or natural disaster. An upgrade to a 50MB pipeline from a national ISP was implemented to improve the speed when accessing the internet.
Result:
The off-line testing of the new Syspro software on an existing FSN server platform revealed major programming issues. Subsequent corrections were made to the coding before integration occurred. Preventative measures at a low expense made for a seamless launch to the new version of Syspro. Through a Managed IT approach a three year IT budget has been established to ensure the deployment of new technologies to implement a reliable IT network that is adequately protected.
